If your alarm system reports to our Central Monitoring Station via a cellular communication, your security system communicates on either a 2G, 3G, or 4G network. As of December 31st, 2016, all 2G networks will cease to exist. This means, if your alarm system communicates on a 2G network, it will no longer work after the end of this year. If your alarm system only works on our 2G cellular network, we’ll help you upgrade it to avoid service interruption.
Think of your security system like a cell phone. Every few years you upgrade your cell phone to take advantage of speed, features, and the latest technology. Your alarm system works in a similar way! With the 2G cellular network shutdown quickly approaching, now is a good time to update your security system. Newer security systems have app capabilities, faster communication speeds, and built-in features that can increase security while saving you money.
We suggest you contact our office to ensure your alarm system is at least 3G capable and to find the best security solution for you.
